About

Hello.
I'm Cortney. I'm a mom, developmental speech-language pathologist, parent coach, writer, crafter, and avid consumer of chocolate. I've spent more than 17 years in the field of child development and that experience seeps into my everyday interactions with my children. It creeps into conversations with friends. It leads me to spend my precious evening hours pouring over journal articles and attending online lectures.

I believe parents should support one another. I believe most people are doing what makes sense to their particular body, heart, and mind. I believe parenting is one of the hardest tasks we face. I believe childhood is just as difficult. I believe everyone deserves a chance to be understood. I believe every child should have a voice. I believe the impeccable love between parent and child can conquer a plethora of obstacles. I believe in broccoli and bedtime and also cookies and staying up late. I believe in helping parents understand, connect with, and delight in their children.

This blog serves as a bridge between my passions as person, parent, and professional. There will be musings on the recipes, holiday decorations, and travel. There will be chats about discipline, mealtime struggles, and chore charts. There will be conversations about grammar, literacy, and neurobiology.
Mostly about children.
Mostly.
